ISLAM  and  INTERFAITH  RELATIONS

Henry Martyn Institute (HMI) is an ecumenical Christian organization promoting reconciliation between people of different faiths and cultures. It encourages the study of religions and practical grassroots involvement with the objective of improving relationships between divided groups and communities. HMI achieves its goals through various academic and praxis programs.

Summer Course Description and Objective:

The Summer Course on Islam and Interfaith Relations — a long-standing annual program exclusively designed for seminary students — is an intensive two-week residential course.

®    It provides an in-depth understanding of varous religions.
®    It will assist students in establishing a critical and contextualized understandings of religion, introduce different methods for understanding religion and models for religious engagement, and develop their ability to challenge normative assumptions about religion.

The program consisting of:

®    Daily Interfaith Devotion
®    Every day lectures on major religions in India and special classes on Islam
®    Arabic/Sanskrit Language classes (optional) will be offered during the course
®    Group discussions, practical dialogue sessions on religion and social issues
®    Exposure visits to religious places
®    Medium of instruction is English
®   Certificate will be issued after completion of the course

Course Fee and Registration:

The course fee is Rs. 3000/-. There are some scholarships are available, interested candidates should register by paying Rs. 500/- on or before 31 March 2017 (registration fee not included in the course fee)

Travel:

Participants are expected to arrive on Sunday, 30th April and departure on Friday, 12th May after lunch. Participants have to take care of their own travel costs.
